After nearly a decade Washington D.C. homeless women finally gets someone to listen to her about errors with her Social Security benefits.
After applying for benefits, Witter began receiving checks but soon realized the amounts were not only too small, but inconsistently ranged from $300 to $900 a month.
Witter refused to cash the checks due to the varied amounts and instead tried to get someone to help her sort out her benefits. No one listened to her and she was dismissed as a crazy homeless person.
That changed in 2015 when a social worker took the time to review Witter’s paperwork.
The social worker saw there was a problem and connected Witter to an attorney who agreed to take her case. The attorney was able to convince the Social Security Administration and Witter is now receiving Social Security benefits of $1,464 a month. She will also be receiving a check for $99,999 as payment for the amount she was owed and not paid previously.
An experienced attorney can guide you in any problems you face with Social Security benefits.
